Relief from Itchiness? & 1800PetMeds.com Product Giveaway!

A couple weeks ago, I got a package from 1800PetMeds.com.  It was filled with all kinds of pet care products for me to try out and give away.

Of course I did silly things with the box before we opened it . . .

Look, I'm taller

I LOVE boxes

The package contained all kinds of pet care products, including a bottle of Super Pure Omega 3 Softgels.

Momma takes fish oil herself on her doctor's advice, so she was curious about the health benefits of fish oil to dogs.  So she went to 1800PetMeds' Pet Education page, scrolled down to Pet Health, and found a post about the Benefits of Giving Your Pet Omega 3 by Dr. Michael Dym, VMD.  According to Dr. Dym, Omega 3 supplements help promote healthy skin and coat, reduce inflammation, and can reduce the intensity of allergies.  Omega 3 also has other benefits, but we're mostly interested in what it can do for my allergies.

For a long time, I've had problems with itchy skin, due to either food or environmental allergies.  We've tried different foods and meds with varying results.  So we're trying Super Pure Omega 3 softgels to see if they help my skin and make it less itchy.  Momma hides the softgels in my food and I woof them down, so getting me to take them is no problem at all.

I've been taking the Omega 3 softgels for about 2 weeks now, and although it's probably too early for them to really start working, momma thinks my scratching has lessened.  We're trying the Omega 3 for two months, and I'll report back periodically about how my itchiness is doing.

Also in the package was a toy "Max" - one of the two 1800PetMeds mascots.  Max is my new friend.

There were also some of Max's Super Dental Wipes in the package.  (From the look of Max's teeth, he must use these regularly.)  We will review the dental wipes in a future post, but I know everyone is eager for the giveaway.

Drumroll . . .

And now for the really fun part -- As I said, 1800PetMeds.com sent me a whole box full of stuff, and I want to share it with my readers, so I'm giving some of it away.  One lucky winner will receive a box of pet care products from 1800PetMeds.com.

To enter, just follow the instructions on the Rafflecopter thing below.  Due to the cost of shipping, this giveaway is open to residents of the United States only.  (Sorry my non-U.S.-resident pals, but momma is paying for shipping.)

Sorry, but I'm keeping Max

Disclosure: 1800PetMeds.com sent me a box full of free products in return for us trying out some of their products and spreading the word about all their site has to offer.  We will also receive a credit to purchase additional products from 1800PetMeds.com to try out and review.  We received no other compensation for this post.  All opinions expressed are our own.

ANNOUNCING Dog In A Box PHOTO CONTEST (with Special Guest Stars!)

Earlier this month, I showed you how much fun can be had with a simple cardboard box (see Fun With A Box).

Not to be outdone, my friends Jewels and Delilah posted their own Dogs In A Box photo on Instagram. (@jewelsndelilah on Instagram)

they may actually get shipped somewhere

That gave me an idea - why not have a Dog(s) In A Box photo contest?

To enter, just take a photo of a dog or dogs in a box, and email it to me here with the subject "Dog In A Box" and the dog's name.  If you have a blog or Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram account you'd like me to link to, please include that as well.  (Please, no cats in boxes -- that would be too easy.)  Once I receive all entries, I will do a post with all the photos, so everyone can enjoy them, and maybe get a chance to meet some new pups.

Rules:

  • By sending me your photo, you give me permission to publish it on my blog in posts pertaining to this contest, but you continue to own the rights to the photo.
  • Contest will run from now until January 31.
  • Winner will be selected randomly from all entries.  (Because I know it will be impossible to select the cutest or funniest or silliest.)
  • Winner will be announced in a blog post on February 1.

PRIZE will be a BOX (of course) -- full of an assortment of dog treats & dog-related swag from BlogPaws, BarkWorld, etc.  Contest is open to U.S. residents and non-residents alike, however if winner is a non-U.S.-resident, we may have to substitute something else for the treats due to customs laws.

Sound fun?  Then find a box, get your pup, and take some photos!

Fromm Chicken with Carrots & Peas Recipe Treat Review and Chewy.com's January Giveaway!

I sure am one lucky pup.  One of our favorite online dog noms retailers, Chewy.com, sent me more treats to review.  This month, Chewy.com sent me a bag of Fromm Four-Star Nutritionals Grain-Free Chicken with Carrots & Peas Recipe Dog Treats.

Disclosure: In return for providing an honest review of Fromm treats, Chewy.com sent me a bag of treats with a retail value of $4.99 free of charge.  I received no other compensation for this review.

Let me tell you about these awesome treats:

Healthy Ingredients

Mom is kinda' picky about what she feeds me, so first she looks at the ingredients.  Fromm Chicken with Carrots & Peas Treats are made in the USA with free-range chicken, all kinds of veggies, and no grains.  All ingredients are sourced in the USA and inspected by the USDA.

Ingredients: Fresh Chicken, Pea Flour, Potato Flour, Tapioca, Whole Peas, Chicken Fat, Tomato Pomace, Fresh Cranberries, Fresh Sweet Potatoes, Fresh Carrots, Fresh Apples, Fresh Split Peas, Fresh Green Beans, Fresh Green Bell Peppers, Fresh Celery, Fresh Beets, Fresh Parsley, Fresh Lettuce, Fresh Watercress, Fresh Spinach

Lots of my pals can't eat chicken, but that's okay, because Fromm Four-Star Nutritionals Treats come in lots of different flavors.  Chewy.com carries seven different flavors of Fromm Four-Star Nutritionals Treats, including salmon, lamb, cheese, liver, and cranberry.

Low Calorie

Fromm Chicken with Carrots and Peas Treats are only 8 1/2 calories per treat.  That's important, because I want to stay trim and active.  Treats can add up (especially when you're as good and cute as I am) so we prefer low-calorie treats (which means I can have MORE).  (Calories are not printed on the package, but I was able to find this information on the Fromm website.)

About Fromm

Fromm is a Wisconsin-based, family-owned company that has been producing premium dog food for over a century.  For more information about Fromm, see Frommfamily.com and Fromm History.  You can also follow Fromm on their facebook page, where they periodically offer coupons.

SUPER Yummy

While momma cares about things like ingredients, where a product is made and who makes it, and how many calories, what's most important to me is TASTE -- does it taste yummilicious? is it crunchy or chewy or soft? how many can I convince momma to give me?

Well, Fromm Chicken with Carrots and Peas Treats fall into the yummilicious category.  The treats are hard and crunchy, which I love, and small enough so I can get more than one at a time.

Hmmm. Where'd these come from?

May I have them please?

My Rating of Fromm Treats

Based on all of the above, I give Fromm treats my highest rating of Four Paws Up.

Chewy.com

Have I mentioned how much I love Chewy.com?  Not just because they send me free treats to review, and not just because we can get my regular food there for a very good price, and not just because they have great giveaways (see below).  Chewy.com sent my friend Sugar of Golden Woofs a bunch of get-well roses after she had surgery to remove a mass from her tongue.  (See Chewy.com Delivers Happy Treats and Roses.)  We think that was a lovely gesture.  Chewy.com ROCKS.

What do you mean I've had enough
treats for now?

Chewy.com January Giveaway

My pals at Chewy.com are doing another giveaway this month.  You can enter by either following the instructions in the Rafflecopter below, or by emailing me here with the subject "Chewy.com January Giveaway" and I will forward your entry to Chewy.  The email entry option is for those who don't use Facebook, Twitter, etc., because we don't want them to be left out.  The top prize is a $50 credit to Chewy.com.  You can buy an awful lot of noms for $50, so what are you waiting for?  Enter now.
