Momma and Puppy Jake, May 1999 Ocracoke, NC |
Jake at Booga's house, one of his favorite places |
Before I came to live with Mommy-Dog and Daddy-Dog (that's what I call my human parents), they had a black lab named Jake. Jake died of cancer when he was only eight years old.
To honor Jake's memory, mom, dad, and I formed Team Garth to participate in the Fetch-A-Cure Mutt Strutt to raise money for Fetch-A-Cure, a Richmond, Virginia-based 501(c)(3) organization that educates humans to raise awareness about canine cancer and its detection, treatment, and prevention.
If you are in or near Richmond, Virginia, please join us in the walk. It's only a mile long. If you would like to join or support our team, check out the Team Garth Fundraising Page.
Many thanks to those who have already made donations to Fetch-A-Cure in support of Team Garth.

I am sending momma over to your team page with her plastic money.

Jake looks like a sweetheart. It had to be so hard for your Mommy-Dog and Daddy-Dog to lose him so young. We hate cancer and pray for a cure for humans, woofies and kitties.

Good luck! The c-word is awful awful awful, and we've all lost too many furiends and relatives to it!
ReplyDeleteCancer is a scary monster. Jack was so cute, and you will all be reunited when time will come on the rainbow bridge.
ReplyDeleteWe will be with you by thoughts on your walk.
Woos of love.

Jake was a very handsome dog and reminds us of our Shiloh! We really like that last picture! We are so sorry that he had that ugly c-word. Summer, our yellow Lab, had the c-word and passed over the Rainbow Bridge also. The c-word totally sucks and we wish you much luck on your walk!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for all of your support!
