Show Your Love this Valentine's by Helping Pets In Need

The Sweet 16

My buddy Dexter of Fidose of Reality recently told me about sixteen doggies that need our help.  Their owner was killed in a tractor accident, and his widow could no longer care for the dogs.  Oldies But Goodies Cocker Rescue took the dogs in, groomed them, and got them veterinary care to get them ready for fostering and adoption.  But the cost of their veterinary care is expected to exceed $16,000.

OBG has established a Your Caring Fund to help pay for the vet bills.  You can find the link to donate, and you can read all about it in Pack of Sweet 16 Dogs Needs Our Help.  Every little bit helps, so if you can only donate $1 or $5, that's okay.  If all my readers in a day donated $1 each, that would be almost $200!

As a special bonus, everyone who donates any amount will be entered into a drawing for a ticket to Wigglebutts Go Hollywoof, a red carpet event in Sterling, Virginia this coming September!

Valentine's Hearts for the Herd Contest

My husky pals at The Thundering Herd are also raising money for pets in need this Valentine's Day.  They're hosting the Valentine's Hearts For The Herd Contest to raise money for Sarge's Animal Rescue Foundation.  Sarge's rescued over 1100 pets in 2013, an average of 3 a day.

It's easy to enter the contest -- just send a Valentine to your favorite member of the Thundering Herd (their address is in the post about the contest).  Each Herd member has written a post about why he/she should get your Valentine, and it's fun to read their posts and learn how they became members of the Herd.  Can't decide?  Then send a Valentine to the whole Herd.  If you want (but it's not required), you may include a check made out to Sarge's Animal Rescue Foundation in your Valentine.  They've raised $160 for Sarge's already!  (See Spring and Winter).

At the end of the contest, they will select one Valentine to receive a grand prize of a doggie bakery gift basket donated by Smoky Mountain Dog Bakery.

Can't think of anything really special to get your sweetie for Valentine's Day?
Why not make a donation to the Sweet 16 or Sarge's in their honor?

My momma is good with crafty stuff, so I asked her to make an extra special Valentine for me to send my favorite member of the Thundering Herd.

Can you guess which Herd member will receive this Valentine?
