My friends at YouDidWhatWithYourWeiner.com recently came up with a great idea. It's called the 30/30 Challenge. The goal of the 30/30 Challenge is to walk 30 minutes per day for the next 30 days, beginning on New Year's Day.
It's true we do a lot of hiking on weekends, and we try to walk every day during the week too. But we don't always walk every day. This time of year, it's cold and dark when momma gets home from work, and sometimes she just wants to come home and curl up on the couch with me where it's cozy and warm. I'm okay with that because I get mid-day walks daily and super-fun adventure hikes on Wednesdays, but of course I like having another walk in the evening, and momma really needs it. She needs the exercise but she also just needs to get outside to clear her head. And once she puts on her 27 layers of polartec and all of our flashing equipment, and we get out walking, she's always glad we did. She doesn't mind the cold if she's properly bundled and moving, but sometimes it's hard for her to get started.
So we're doing the 30/30 Challenge for my mom -- as a way to motivate her to walk with me at least 30 minutes per day for the next 30 days.

We'd also like to encourage others to take the challenge with us. To be happy and healthy, we doggies need to get out and walk. And our humans need it just as much as we do, if not more so.
A number of other bloggers are participating in the challenge (see We Aren't Walking Alone) and we hope more will join us. We will try to post weekly progress updates on Fridays (but may end up posting these on Saturday or Sunday).
Let's get moving!
