Wigglebutt Wedding Weekend!

At BlogPaws, I met a very sweet and beautiful labbie girl named Andrea.

I also met this cool cocker spaniel dude named Dexter and went to his bachelor party.  Dexter sure knows how to party . . .

Unbelievably, Andrea didn't have a date to Dexter's wedding, the Wigglebutt Wedding, so she asked ME to be her date.  I was so excited my tail started wagging like crazy.  Of course I said yes!

There was one problem.  The Wigglebutt Wedding was in Connecticut, and we live in Virginia, so I had to figure out a way to get there.  I went to mom and dad with my best pleading and pitiful look and begged them to pleeeeese drive me to Connecticut to escort Andrea to the wedding.

Well, mom and dad do not particularly like weddings, and generally try their best to avoid them.  But they had never attended a dog wedding before, and they were intrigued.  The fact that the wedding was a fundraiser for Life's Little Paws, the cocker spaniel rescue group that rescued the bride Zoe, made it even more appealing to them.  When I pointed out that, not only would we be supporting a wonderful cause, we would have an opportunity to see some of the awesome people we met at BlogPaws, they were convinced and agreed that we should go.

I didn't have anything proper to wear, so we ordered a custom-made tux for me from Debra Thesing's etsy shop Pugpossessed, with the tie and cummerbund to match Andrea's dress.  Mom had some difficulty measuring me because I'm so wiggly, but she must have done okay because it fit me perfectly.

It took us two days and lots of driving to get to the wedding.  We left after work on Thursday and spent Thursday night at a hotel in a place called Merry Land.

I feel very hip

We got up bright and early on Friday and drove the rest of the way to Connecticut.  It was a long drive, but I'm a very good traveler, so it went smoothly.  We got to Connecticut in plenty of time to get all dressed up for the wedding.  When we checked into the Homewood Suites in Stratford, we saw this sign:

When we got to the wedding, momma helped me get dressed (she's got those opposable thumbs that are particularly useful in that type of situation), and we went inside and looked for Andrea.

But mom, I can't walk with these on

Andrea was incredibly beautiful in her blue dress (also custom-made by Pugpossessed).  It was wonderful to see her and her mom.

The wedding was amazing.  Zoe and Dexter and their moms looked fabulous, the minister was hilarious, and the Bubba Rose doggie wedding cake was the best thing EVER.  (Mom cut my piece of cake in half and I proceeded to eat the entire half in one bite.  The second half she cut into smaller pieces and fed me only one piece at a time.)

Even my momma was dressed up,
and that never happens

All of the dogs and the one cat in attendance were dressed up beautifully.  And we each got a goodie bag filled with all kinds of treats, and I even won one of the prizes.  All in all it was a lovely evening.

The bride and groom both wore Bandit Rubio Designs

Dog weddings are way more fun than human weddings . . .

The next morning, we went to the Long Island Pet Professionals networking breakfast (and I got to see Andrea again!), then Andrea and I indulged our parents and let them take even more pictures of us.

Isn't Andrea a beauty?

Done with photos now

Then Andrea had to leave, which made me very sad.  To cheer me up, we went exploring the Sikorsky Estuary Walk, which was near our hotel.  That evening we got to hang out with Dexter and Zoey's moms and a bunch of new people and dogs we met.  I got tired so I went back to the room with daddy, but mom stayed up late talking and laughing with them.  I think she had a really good time.

On Sunday morning we got up and left super early because we had a very long drive.  But it was SO worth it because we all three had SUCH a fabulous time.  We spent all last week enjoying the wedding photos that our new friends were posting on facebook.
(If you'd like to see more of our wedding photos, see my Wigglebutt Wedding Album on Facebook.) (Also, check out Andrea's post in her new blog Sweetie Pup and Dexter's mom's article in Dogster: 10 Things I Learned at My Dog's Wedding.)

Mom and dad have also been enjoying people's reactions when they tell them how they spent the weekend.  Doesn't everyone take a day off work to drive their dog 400 miles for a date to a dog wedding?
